Champagne Diva (C)
by Patsi Hughes on 8/18/2008 9:27:38 AM

Champagne Diva

This Champagne loving "Diva" reminds me sooo much of my good friend, Jax's.
I have been working on my "Frog" website, and my Frogs, for some, up coming Fall events. So I haven't been Blogging too much.
I always look forward to the fall, means the heat is dying down, kids back to school. Thank goodness.

  Patsi

by Patsi Hughes on 7/22/2008 1:30:26 PM

Golf,Golf

 Golfing is fun!
I am getting ready to make more coasters, the holidays are around the corner.
I live on a golf course and am amazed the people in the heat, that golf.
I think this little guy is one of those Golfers.

Santa Fe Doors
by Patsi Hughes on 7/10/2008 11:33:53 AM

I had taken this picture in Santa Fe, New Mexico, when my friend, Barbra Simmons, and I were walking up Canyon Road.
It was in the Spring. Everything was Blooming and the weather was great.
Santa Fe is just such a different the Town. Government and art. Lots of art.
You can feel it all around you, and it is. From carvings, metal, silver, weaving, its all there.
It was a great time, with alot of inspiring ideas.
I think my heart will always be in New Mexico.

Prescott, Az. on the 4th of July
by Patsi Hughes on 7/6/2008 10:08:02 PM

I just arrived home from Prescott, this afternoon.
There was an Art show in the square, which was really cool.
On Sat. we went to Jerome, and had about 10 gallons of water dumped on us, as an afternoon shower came up. We were right out in the open. What a site, we were. Drenched!!!!!
It was so cool up there. They thought it was hot, but after Vegas, 90 the high felt good.
Now I am ready to get busy on art.

Going Green
by PATSI HUGHES on 7/1/2008 9:12:36 AM

Going Green

I might of posted this before, but I am trying to get out of here (Vegas) to go to Prescott. I sure hope its a little cooler. Anything will help.
I have put this guy on some grocery totes, and he is doing quite well.
We just have to stop with the plastic.
I hope that everyone is up on this, although I'm not as much as I should be.
But I am concerned about the environment.
Would you all like to make suggestions, on maybe just one small thing we could do?

  Thanks
  Patsi

Picnic
by Patsi Hughes on 6/26/2008 9:01:49 PM

Picnic

I did this painting for one of my Stepping Series.
I started this series a few years back, and just keeping adding to it. Who knows how far it will go.
I have always felt like I was on the out side looking in at the world, so this is how it all got started.
Its funny how bits and parts of you come out in art. When I look at art, too me, it reflects the soul of the artist.
I took this picture, so as soon as my photographer, gets back from vacation, I probably will re-post this and some more I am working on.

Magnolia
by Patsi Hughes (C) Magnolia on 6/19/2008 10:42:41 AM

Magnolia

This is a watercolor I did a while back.
I started in watercolor and love the look, but I like more control, so I started with acrylic's and now oils.
Seems like I do things backwards. Lol.
But I will tell you in this desert and all the dry heat we have Magnolia Trees.
The neighbor next door to me has 3 right in the sun with the golf course behind. So there isn't much shade. I just watch them for about 2 1/2 months.
I think I like the Buds when they are full, right before opening.
I am working on about 4 oils right now. I think I am finally getting the hang of it. This waiting for it to dry is a bummer.
I am doing a show in Town Square on the 27th if its not too hot.Its tough in the summer here, but its in the shade and such a good place. Just a 5 hour show. Its a new shopping area and is "The Place" right now. Over 102 I won't do it.
I hope that you will visit all my web site, and remember I have giclee' prints of most my work.
Have  a wonderful day, and keep looking upwards.
I would love to hear from you, so please leave a comment.

  Patsi

Reading Frog

This Reading Frog, was a commission that I did for a friend of mine.
I had done work before, for them, flower art, Bottles, etc.
This time they said they wanted a Frog and leaves.
BOY!!! At first I didn't know what to do, and really wasn't going to do it.
But decided I could at least try.
This is what it ended up being.
It was going into their bedroom, so the night came, and they love to travel, so the globe.
I had no idea, that it would turn out cartoonish. LOL Actually I was shocked and worried they wouldn't like it. They loved it. So have a lot of other people, that is why I decided to do ,coasters, prints, and shirts, and I now have my Frog series, that is quiet entertaining.
Its one of those things that can mean so many things.
Who wouldn't love their children to have a shirt with a Frog reading? About what? Your imagination.
  It is 30 x 40.

This is done in oils. 15 x 30.

   He is The Great Painter.

Petunia's
by Patsi Hughes on 5/12/2008 11:07:04 PM

White Petunia's

 These were in the garden.
We have to enjoy flowers before the heat comes, and it is coming fast.
  I really love these oils.
I am going to try a couple of still lives next, after I finish with my Iris's.
